Why You Shouldn’t Buy A Registry Cleaner

July 13th, 2010 Anthony Freeman No comments

Have you noticed the big hype that’s been going on with people trying to get their hands on the absolute best registry cleaners? Well I’ll let you in on a little secret – if your looking to make your computer faster then using a registry cleaner will give you very little, if any, noticeable results. If you not exactly sure what a registry cleaner is, it’s a database that is used to store all of your computers configurations for the operating system and the programs that you use. When you make a change to a program, the registry that corresponds with that program/application will either change or add a new registry. If there are redundant registries or registries that are not being used then the computer will run inefficiently and this is where a registry cleaner will come in.

So what exactly does a registry cleaner do that is so important? All it really does is it will remove the unwanted, redundant and broken registries that really are not helping your computer out. They are just sitting there and are taking up space for no real reason at all. The overall idea that registry cleaners follow is htat if you remove these useless registries your computer will run faster. This will happen. But the real question is how much of a difference will it make?

What most people seem to fail to realize is that cleaning up your registry will not make your computer super fast. What will happen is that your computer will get ever so slightly faster – the difference might be so small that you might not even notice it. Has that ever happened to you? You ran a scan and after it was done you notice absolutely no difference in your computer? My suggestion is this: don’t buy into the hype, keep your money in your wallet where it belongs.

See, making your computer faster requires you to work on different parts of your computer like doing tweaks to the operating system and manually cleaning out certain parts. Using a registry cleaner is like having a whole house to clean and all you are doing is just focusing on cleaning out the kitchen table – sure the kitchen table will be really neat and tidy, but the rest of the whole house is dirty and overall your house will have a dirty messy look to it.

The real question here is: should you stop using registry cleaners all together? No. Cleaning out your registry will make your computer a little bit faster and what you want is to made many different areas of your computer faster so that the overall picture in the end will be that your computer will run faster due to this build up of efficient parts. I don’t suggest paying for a registry cleaner which is why I am recommending the main one that I use – Ccleaner. Just do a Google search for it. Once you have the program installed just run a scan and it will clean out all of the inefficient area’s of your computer. It also doubles as a nice all purpose cleaner on the home screen so feel free to also use that.

Do You Think Registry Cleaners Really Needed?

July 10th, 2010 Jose Watinks No comments

There is a lot of controversy over whether registry cleaners are necessary programs for the optimal performance of your personal computer. Some reviewers claim that they will get your sluggish computer back up to speed quickly. Others say that they are completely unnecessary, and can even cause your system to malfunction or crash.

What a registry cleaner is designed to do is scan the registry of your computer for files that are unused, corrupt, fragmented or invalid. It can find virus or malaware entries that you may not be aware of. These files are then either deleted or quarantined. The claim is that you will experience a speedier start up and less problems with how programs run. However, since some of these files may be critical, you must have the ability to do manual removal with any cleaning program.

Some experts claim that using a cleaner for your registry is a dangerous step. It can remove files that are actually necessary, such as DLL files, causing your system to crash or programs to malfunction. At best, they see the use of a cleaner gaining a bit of disk space and possible speedier start-up. Most computers today have enough disk space that the possible gain of a few kilobytes is irrelevant. One reviewer has even gone to the extent of calling registry cleaning programs ’snake oil’.

It is possible that the free trials of cleaners give ambiguous information about registry errors, in hopes you will buy the program. Once installed and run, you may find that your computer is faster, and loads better. However, alternatively, you just may find that it has removed some necessary registry entries and you have lost or impaired functionality. Running the program will probably not speed up your computer noticeably, and you may even find it slower because it fragments the registry.

All registry cleaners advise running the program on a scheduled basis in order to keep your registry error free. With the thousands of files in any registry, a few orphaned or unused entries will likely not affect the speed or performance very much. Instead, it may quarantine some files that are needed, what is known as a false positive result.

Computer experts agree that if you think you are having problems with your registry files, you should deal with them manually. If you don’t know how, hire an expert or just leave it alone. Unless cleaning programs can come up with some hard data to back up their claims, you should avoid them.

As you begin with a new and clean computer system, take a few basic steps to keep it that way. Use only licensed programs, and keep back up disks so you can reinstall or correct any problems that occur. Make frequent backups of critical data. Always have a good anti-virus system installed, keeping it updated at all times, and running. Don’t install and uninstall trial software. Use the disk cleanup and defragment programs regularly. With these steps in place, you will not feel the need to use registry cleaners.

Are you stressed over registry cleaners that don’t work and ruin files that are critical? Well, with our software, you won’t have to worry. If you want to know more you should read our registry cleaners reviewed article.
